Consumer Society bigger than all!

It’s been 15 days now of the recent devastating terrorist attack that happened on the heritage building of the Taj and at various other places.
There was something definitely very different about this episode in spite of not being “the worst”; there have been various before, but this for a change provoked every stratum of the society.
A hit on the rich class’s life, middle class’s emotions and of course the third segment is forever involved. The crucial reason which give a different take to this whole chapter from every aspect, is the 24/7 revolution of the electronic media, which made us watch a continuous live war tagged with several emotions, which were never so seriously felt before, also helped us being judgmental, and reminded our responsibilities.
Some compare it with the 9/11, for the visuals laid a greater impact in our mind alike this one.
Now let’s take over the cribbing part, cribbing over the system, cribbing over the politicians, cribbing over the Media, cribbing over Pakistan, cribbing over the celebrities in fact also cribbing over ‘us’ the aam janta. People stood united to crib. But shouldn’t we?? Haven't we taken the oath officially in front of the whole nation to take care of the citizen’s security?
Have we got that money making power? We are purchasing a product that requires guarantee!!But unfortunately we are completely unsecure, so taxes & votes for what?? Where no life is valued. Whom to blame? The intelligence system! Who is too accurate to inform even the suspected time apart from the other details, The General Manager of the Taj! Who refused to ask for the sniffer dogs, for the carpet will be soiled and the guests will be disturbed.
The Politicians! Who were looking for a similar break? Or, we ourselves? Who have finally lost both faith & hope.

A conference of the World Diamond Merchant & also Economic Excellence Award was scheduled at Oberoi’s on the 28th November 2008, to be addressed by our Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan singh. As per the Prime Minister’s security conduct, the place is supposedly be sealed with security two days prior, but apparently no doubt is left for our security anymore…. In spite of knowing to be on the top target on the terrorists list well in advance, Taj & Oberoi refused to give a layout to the commissioner Krishna Kumar.

Now why is this news away from the ever 'attentive' media, in this cribbing session, can be easily realized by all of us. After all apart from the money makers no one is left so ignorant anymore.

Fashion- a review

Attitude, style, gay designers, limelight & above all being on the top is what Fashion all about.
Tall models ramping on the stage with the only expression of confidence trying to make a difference was all that was portrayed in Madhur Bhandarkar’s recent off the track release ‘Fashion’.
Model Geetanjali Nagpal’s story was reconstructed on actress Kangna Ranawat, which needs no words to describe in terms of acting. She performed as if the role was completely meant for her.

Main lead Priyanka Chopra because of her “goody” actress image wouldn’t have suited the character as much, but her acting skills proved the myth wrong. As per Mr. Bhandarkar’s inside out of the Fashion world, the story seems to be very much obvious in every industry but the platform, music, faces, glitz made it simply larger than life.
The charm of the movie could be only experienced on the silver screen because of its constructed showbiz. The page3 faces, designer wears, parties gave it a complete original look.

The story of a small town girl was very well taken care of, along with other stories going hand in hand which showcased the up’s & down’s in one’s life, filled in with all sorts of emotions which consisted of love, betrayal, competence, jealousy etc. providing a complete entertainment.

Overall, the sync of sound with cinematography, dresses on models, blank emotionless faces were well portaryed. All this captured every aspect of the fashion industry.

Bhandarkar style was portrayed to the best, apart from the film industry business, the coming up fashion week hopefully will witness a hike too.

The Hero Makers!

It was 31st of October, known as peace day, but unfortunately nothing what can be called peace was seen as news headlines.

With an initial protest against North Indians in the starting of the year, leading to a man loosing his life, The Raj Thackrey episode completely shattered my mind, for the story of publicity was no more let it go types.

Having an option of Delhi & Mumbai as two metros to move out for studies, my parents were too keen to opt for Mumbai amongst the two, & the reason being, ‘it’s a safe city’. After shifting their, it was nearly every alternate day, that they use to call me, for there’s news flashing on television. MNS (Maharastra Navnirmaan Sena) members burning postures , hitting Taxi’s and the never ending dadagiri.
Though it never affected me, because generally it’s under poverty line people, who cannot afford to hit back & can just take it with no options in hand.

I never wasted my time thinking about the various publicity stunts that captured the daily front headlines, but media was the main ingredient to make Raj Thackrey, The Raj Thackrey, whose image was portrayed not less than of that of the Prime Minister, may that be in terms of his security or the way everything gets hindered with the slightest disturbance in his policies.

Actually a handsome personality is all what is required to just hit the chords of the target audience & rest can be taken care of gradually. An aggressive leader is the demand of the day that is what even forced the Jet employees to approach a person like him.

Agenda setting is in the hand of the story makers or the story tellers, and unfortunately the masses are in the no option zone. Young Politician like Rahul Gandhi on the screening of blockbusters like Om Shanti Om or Rock on, doest makes it that big; But Raj Thackrey definitely makes an extra large difference for the same situation, which can be indeed captured for an hour’s news feature.

I still remember Salmaan Khan being in limelight for quite a sometime for his wrong deeds, but a bit bad & some better is enough for a clean chit, to play with the usual diehard emotional audience.
And so, no wonder a zero today can be a hero tomorrow, all blessed by the bios communicators.

To be continued.....

It was this Friday that after a lot of acclamation I saw the movie ‘A wednesday’, the movie had nothing new, except the conclusion, which had this tremendous connectivity with all the citizens of our Nation, who can’t do anything than just showcasing their anger by supporting such movies. And the very next day something happened which was devastating, connecting but as usual, The Delhi blasts. It was the first time that my insecurity level raised up, Kashmir, Orissa, Bihar, Delhi..Same same but different. Life moves on for everyone, except for those who are stuck here. People call it high spirit, I call them immune, though it’s not their fault, for sacrificing emotions is not a big aloofness anymore. You receiving & calling for concern to people whom you know and taking a sigh of relief hearing their voice in spite of seeing dead bodies floating around, with cameras flashing and politicians highlighting themselves just every now and then, yet the members of their party make sure to mark their presence in uniform and yet the people can forget the incident in few hours and dance till they drop to the loudest bollywood music for Ganeshvisarjan. Seems like a movie, But I still wonder is there an alternative like a 3 hour movie to pause our anger forever? But unfortunately Life moves on and so do we with all compromises in hand.

Rock on

Bollywood has reached a stage of experiment where the audience has started accepting the changes, & so here was “rock on”, one such experiment of rock culture in the Indian market. The way the Director Mr. Abhishek Kapoor, (I am glad he didn’t followed the trend of sis Ekta) managed to read the fusion taste of the masses is commendable. Every story can’t meet the practicality border set by every individual, but at the end of the day what matters most to the Indian audience is “paisa-time wasooli”, by experiencing emotions ,drama, love, songs, costumes, ambiance & finally moral with the label of a good star caste, Which this movie provided them all. The present scenario has definitely changed, where from a school kid to college going and his parents, everyone at some point of their lives want to feel like that of a rock star, and this movie was the first effort to provide them with this. Unlike a typical Farhan-Akhtar movie, the ‘magic’ was the peppiness of the youth life & further the fading effects, which actually is an emotional stage in each one of our life majorly, so there was the bonding of the connectivity. Also the perfect pace on which the movie was rolling, can say right thing happened at the right time. The live performance feel was a larger than life, real experience to be experienced rarely by the masses . Farhan Akthar, as a debutant lived completely up to the expectations of the viewers.
In spite of various characters, each role was completely justified. Experiment turned out successful in the area of music as well.On a whole, it was a dose of complete entertainment, and after long a jovial, off the track movie.A must watch for youth & for the one who are “just married”……Njoe!

Profile

Born & brought up in the beautiful lake city Bhopal, I did my graduation in (B.com) management honors from Institute of Excellence in Higher Education (I.E.H.E.).
Inspired from my father Mr. T.D. Nenwani, my aim turned out to work for the upliftment of the society, with no specification of how, what, where, when etc…And with blurred ambition, I started off writing bits for several print mediums & finally one day thought to come up with a youth fun magazine called “Phokat Times” (phokat-times.blogspot.com), in partnership with two close friends. The aim of the magazine was to give sarcastic comments on social issues and to distribute it free in all colleges, as well as at youth hangout spots and to invite them blogging for the same. The magazine was a hit buzz in a place like Bhopal, but to work over its finances, seems challenging. It was after the launch of two successful editions, that I got an offer by a newly launched radio channel, 94.3 My Fm to be a part as a Radio Jockey, luckily for a youth time band. With an amazing experience in this field for more than a year, apparently, my message was very much conveying, but moreover in a sarcastic, youth style. But at the end of the day, what mattered were the delivery & its acceptance. I am also a member of “The Green Planet Bicycle Riders Association”.

With more of fun filled factors at that stage of life, there were several issues that raised, (reservations, blasts….etc) all related to politics, several questions but no answer! And probably that was the reason; every youth couldn’t control cribbing about the same, with no major inputs of efforts. And that was the “kahaani main twist”, when a happening R.j. desperately wished to be a politician. In order to see the change, I tried to change by not throwing my chewing gum wrapper on road, by turning off the computer rather than to stand up when not required, by following the traffic rules, and by being optimistic about the Indian Politics, which was the toughest of the all. Yes India isn’t working the way it should, but who stays here? Yes politicians aren’t working the way they should, but who votes them? Yes the place is damm dirty, but no alien does that! So finally I realized as a citizen of this country I matter a lot, irrespective of the bull shit fragmentation of caste, job, profile etc…
And so here I am trying hard to make a difference as a ‘Social Communication Media’ student in “Sophia Polytechnic” Mumbai.

An Idea can change your life!

It was last week that, my eyes stuck on these hoardings that were placed all over the city, quoting “main Nagpur ki hoon Mumbai ki nahhi” and so on…Later I realized that this buzz was not only in my mind but on a whole was the actual talk of the town. The very first impression that I got with this was the establishment of a new anti regional party, and probably this was the new sophisticated way to convey their message, which was giving a direct clash to the thoughts of some local political leaders. With more of awareness, education, standard of living and a sense of understanding about everything, the reason of pace to rip each other is something I am unable to locate. “No space for no one” is a selfish thought provoking in every heart, may that be of a member of a joint family, May that be a member of MNS (Maharashtra Nav Nirmaan Sena) , May that be of people of Muslim or Hindu dominating societies, May that be of people of Orissa or Kashmir. With all these issues of disparity, an Idea of unity showcased by this campaign added a dose of freshness.
Somehow I feel the oneness in our country which is shared under the label “democracy”, is more fragmented from inside with cities, states & regional divisions.
I still remember those videos on Doordarshan that I use to see as a kid, with the theme of happiness about this unity of diversity application of our nation. Which has dipped with the time, seeing the issues happening around us!

Being ‘Hindi’, Hindustan’s national language, I have experienced how the students feel alien about the people who use it, how the shop’s name in Mumbai have to be compulsory in bold font in Marathi. With so many complications in a multi lingual secular democratic country, can’t we make things easier by just a label of being “Indians?”
It’s high time to say it yourself rather than just saying. I am an Indian.
